Mapungubwe National Park in Limpopo Province is the perfect location for those looking to learn about the history of the area and to enjoy the stunning landscape, birds and wildlife. In July 2003 the Mapungubwe Landscape was added to the List of UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Stop off at the shaded picnic site and take in the view of the confluence of the Shashe and Limpopo Rivers where South Africa, Botswana, and Zimbabwe all unite. Do the Treetop Walk which is on a raised canopy with leads to a hide where there are benches to sit and watch the birds, wildlife and see the Limpopo River. Don’t forget to also take time to follow the route of the Lost Kingdoms.
Explore the magnificent vegetation including a baobab tree that has a circumference of over 30 m. There are over 400 different species of birds to be seen and the range of animals roaming around is very large and keeps changing due to the fact that they wander between the three countries.
In order to get the maximum of your stay in the park it is recommended to go on guided tours. There is a wide selection of guided tours to choose from including three day hikes, or daily morning, sunset or night drives and morning walks.
